Helium introduces its innovative support for the Leica SL3 camera
Helium Design Lab, known for its camera grips, launches a dedicated interface plate for the Leica SL3, enhancing usability and design.

Helium Design Lab, founded by photographers Hugh Brownstone and Ed Palisoc, returns with a new accessory for the Leica SL3. The company, recognized for its precisely engineered camera grips, now offers a modular interface plate designed specifically for the full-frame Leica SL3. Brownstone, well known for his photography and YouTube channel, and Palisoc, an architect and passionate photographer, met at workshops and have since collaborated on developing camera accessories that improve handling and functionality.
Their first product was a grip for the Leica Q3, and now they focus on the SL3, a camera that already features a refined built-in grip. However, their new product, called HeSL3, is not a traditional grip but an interface plate that enhances features like battery and SD card access, includes a secret AirTag compartment, and is compatible with Arca-Swiss tripods and Peak Design accessories. Their goal is to provide a modular base that improves user experience without compromising the camera's aesthetics or performance.
Brownstone explained that after traveling more with the SL3, he felt the camera could benefit from their design, especially in terms of comfort and functionality. Although the SL3 has a very refined grip, their team aimed to create a support that adds useful features while maintaining ergonomics. Made from CNC-machined 6061-T6 aluminum with black anodization, the plate also supports Arca-Swiss standards for quick-release systems.
Brownstone states that his own Leica SL3 started to “feel a little left out,” and that this new support aims to improve that experience.
In addition to the product, Helium Design Lab secured its first patent, protecting its innovations. The interface plate is available for preorder at 320 dollars, with shipping expected to begin in mid-June. The company is confident in reaching its sales target, as it has consistently met its preorder goals so far.
For SL3 users or those considering it, this support promises to enhance the camera’s handling, durability, and aesthetics. It can be purchased through Helium’s official website, with shipments from the United States.
