Intel and LG Display May Have Surpassed Apple and Qualcomm with Record-Breaking Battery Life
A Dell XPS 16 prototype featuring Intel's Panther Lake chip and an LG VRR display lasted nearly 27 hours in web browsing tests, setting a new efficiency benchmark.

One of the most promising developments since CES is the performance of the new Dell XPS 16. This laptop features a unique 1-120Hz variable refresh rate display from LG Display, specifically engineered to conserve power by scaling down when high speeds aren't necessary.
Recent benchmarks from Notebookcheck on a model equipped with the IntelPanther Lake (Core Ultra 325) chip suggest this may be the most efficient laptop ever tested. In a Wi-Fi web browsing simulation, the device drew as little as 1.5 watts at idle. Remarkably, it sustained nearly 27 hours of battery life despite using a 70 watt-hour pack—significantly smaller than the 99.5Wh batteries Dell often employs in its flagship configurations.
These results indicate that Intel and LG Display have made a significant leap forward, potentially overtaking Apple and Qualcomm in the race for the most efficient mobile computing experience on the market.
