iOS 27 to Bring Customizable Camera App and Safari Updates

Apple announced that iOS 27 will significantly enhance the Camera app's flexibility and customization options. Users will be able to select which features appear, such as flash, exposure, timer, depth of field, photo styles, and resolution.

Camera controls, currently shown as widgets, will be movable and can be arranged in any order at the top of the interface. These controls will appear in a transparent tray from the bottom, organized into categories like basic, manual, and settings.

The default layout will still include quick access buttons for flash, Live Photos, and Night Mode, but an advanced customizable layout will be added for professional users. Different modes like photo, video, and a new Siri mode will have their own widget sets, with the Siri mode integrating Visual Intelligence features.

Controls currently accessed from the top right will move to the right of the shutter button in iOS 27. New grid and level options will also be introduced to aid composition.

In the Weather app, a new Conditions panel will allow switching between temperature, rain, and wind, similar to the current interface when tapping weather modules. Safari will feature a redesigned start page with four tabs for favorites, bookmarks, reading list, and history.

System-wide design changes include adjustments to the tab bar in apps like Apple Music, Podcasts, News, and Apple TV, reuniting search with navigation options. Apple plans to revert the separation introduced with Liquid Glass.

The on-screen keyboard will animate with keys sliding up from the bottom, and new undo and redo controls will help with home screen and widget customization. Apple will showcase these features at WWDC in June, where iOS 27 will be officially introduced.
