MacBook Pro with Touch Screen and New Mac Studio Likely Delayed
Global chip shortages may push the launch of these Apple products into 2027, according to recent rumors from Bloomberg.

The worldwide shortage of memory chips is impacting Apple's upcoming product plans. The new MacBook Pro with a touch screen and the refreshed Mac Studio might arrive later than expected.
Mark Gurman, a well-known Bloomberg journalist, previously said that 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pros with touch screens would launch in late 2026 or early 2027. However, in his Power On newsletter, he now suggests these devices could be delayed until the end of that period, possibly early 2027.
Gurman also expected the new Mac Studio to debut around mid-2026, with an announcement possibly at WWDC in June. Now, sources inside Apple indicate the desktop won’t ship until October due to chip shortages.
The upcoming MacBook Pros are expected to feature a touch screen, M6 Pro and M6 Max chips, OLED display, Dynamic Island, and a thinner design. They might carry the MacBook Ultra branding, and macOS 27 will include a touch-friendly interface.
For the Mac Studio, the main update will involve M5 Max and M5 Ultra chips, replacing the mismatched M4 Max and M3 Ultra found in current models, as Apple never introduced an M4 Ultra. No major design changes are anticipated for the desktop.
In summary, a Mac Studio refresh is expected around October, followed by MacBook Pros with touch screens by early 2027, depending on chip supply recovery.
