Samsung unveils OLED screens with biometric sensors for smartphones

Samsung participated in Display Week 2026, a leading event focused on display technologies held in Los Angeles from May 5 to 7. There, it revealed innovations aimed at enhancing mobile screens.

One of the most notable was the OLED panel with built-in biometric sensors, allowing users to measure heart rate and blood pressure with a simple touch. This panel combines RGB pixels and organic photodiodes through a co-deposition process, reaching 500 PPI in a 6.8-inch size.

The Sensor OLED Display uses Flex Magic Pixel privacy technology, which hides information from side views to protect user privacy. Samsung also introduced Flex Chroma Pixel, capable of reaching 3,000 nits brightness and covering 96% of the BT.2020 color space, providing a broader and brighter color spectrum.

This panel employs phosphorescent sensitized fluorescence to enhance color purity and reproduction. It also features LEAD technology, which reduces power consumption while maintaining high brightness without polarizers.

Additionally, Samsung showcased its EL-QD quantum dot displays, which deliver 25% more brightness than previous models, reaching 500 nits in 18-inch panels. These emit light directly via electrical signals, offering precise color accuracy and energy efficiency.

Finally, the company revealed an updated stretchable micro LED display, designed to dynamically adjust resolution and size based on driving conditions, ideal for future vehicles.
