X-Men '97: Season Two comic preview arrives in June

The wait for X-Men '97's second season continues, but Marvel has announced that in June, the comic X-Men '97: Season Two will arrive. This book acts as a prelude, showing how the world reacts to Professor Xavier and his team’s sudden disappearance. The story unfolds at a time when mutants seem to vanish, leaving a void that other heroes must step up to fill.
The comic reveals that, with humanity facing a crisis due to the lack of mutant protectors, Forge and his X-Factor team return to action. They will support characters like Bishop, Jubilee, and Sunspot in this new chapter. The series is written by Steve Foxe and illustrated by Salva Espin, both of whom worked on the original X-Men '97 comic. The first issue features cover art by Todd Nauck.
The storyline picks up right after the end of season one, in a world that hunts and hates mutants. The series follows the remaining X-Men trapped in a different time, facing a hostile and unfamiliar environment. It raises questions about their survival and current location in the timeline.
X-Men '97: Season Two #1 will be released on June 3, 2026, and can be preordered at local comic shops. Although the animated series doesn’t have an official return date yet, its world premiere at the Tribeca Festival in June suggests it will return to Disney+ this summer.
